South Egremont School
Nestled in the heart of this quaint New England village, the South Egremont School is a two-room school house that hosts a unique EK-K program. A far cry from the average 21st century school building, the South Egremont School offers many intangibles that cannot be matched elsewhere. The program is fully integrated to work within the confines of the 1881 building, and is an integral part of the South Egremont community and the Southern Berkshire Regional School District.

Academics: The curriculum taught there is the same as that throughout the District and follows the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. However, the classroom is multi-age, and the program of study is designed for a two-year period. The make-up of the class and the unique features of the building allow for small group teaching and flexible scheduling, which support individual and differentiated instruction. District "specials" teachers travel to the school weekly to provide classes in the areas of art, music, Spanish, and physical education. Library services are provided by the South Egremont Free Library, which is within easy walking distance of the school. The classroom also has three laptop computers, allowing the students to access the Internet or play appropriate computer games to reinforce basic skills.
