Undermountain Faculty
Ashley Barrett teaches grade 3 at Undermountain. Before coming to Undermountain, Ms. Barrett completed the Initial Licensure program at MCLA and conducted her student teaching in a Third Grade classroom in the Central Berkshire Regional School District. Prior to that, she worked in Finance for seven years. She received a BA in Sociology from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. She holds MA certification as an Elementary Teacher, Grades 1-6 and is currently enrolled in the Master’s program at MCLA.

Susan Kinne Beacco is the PreK-3 Reading and Math specialist at Undermountain Elementary School. She is licensed by the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to teach general education grades PreK-2, special education grades PreK-8, and special education grades 5-12 . She earned her BS in Human Development & Family Studies at Colorado State University and her M.Ed in Special Education from Bay Path College. She also holds an advanced Education Specialist Degree in Language & Literacy from Simmons College.

Kimberly Bleau teaches the Early Kindergarten Class. Ms. Bleau holds a BA in Psychology and a BS in Education from MA College of Liberal Arts, and earned an M.Ed. from Lesley University. She joined the staff of Southern Berkshire in 1999. Ms. Bleau holds certification as an Early Childhood, PK-3, Teacher.

Christina Carlson teaches 1st grade. Christina is a graduate of Mount Saint Mary College where she received her BA in English with a concentration in Elementary and Special Education. She also has her M.Ed. from American International College as a Reading Specialist. She is certified through the MA DESE as an Elementary Teacher, grades 1-6, as a teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities, PreK-8 and Reading for all levels. Prior to coming to Undermountain, Christina worked in Lee, MA for four years as a 4th grade teacher.

Cara D'Amico is the school psychologist. She graduated from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA with an undergraduate degree (BA) in Psychology. She has a Masters (M.Ed.) in Educational Psychology and a Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) in School Psychology both from The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY. She also has her National Certification in School Psychology (NCSP).

Jennifer DeAngelo teaches second grade. A member of the Undermountain Staff since 1996, Ms. DeAngelo graduated from Rhode Island College with a BS in Elementary and Special Education. She holds MA certification as an Elementary (K-8) teacher and as a Special Needs (K-8) teacher.

Courtney DeLorenzo is the preschool-fourth grade speech language pathologist for both Undermountain Elementary and New Marlborough Central. She has a B.S./M.S. in Communication Sciences & Disorders and Education from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY. Courtney has speech and language experience in several elementary and preschool settings, including public schools, private schools, Montessori schools, and early intervention. She is certified for preschool through 12th grade as a Teacher of Speech, Language, and Hearing Disorders in Massachusetts and as a Teacher of the Students with Speech and Language Disabilities in New York.

Marian Dodds is a Math Interventionist. She holds MA teacher certification in the areas of Special Education (N-9), Elementary (1-6), and Early Childhood (PreK-2). She has earned an MS in Special Education, BS in Elementary Education, and CAGS in Early Childhood Education.

Nancy Doherty, BCBA is the teacher for both the STEPS (Student-centered Therapeutic Education Program) and Developmental Skills programs in the Elementary School. She is a Board Certified Behavior Analysist (BCBA) and Massachusetts certified as a Teacher of Students with Special Needs, pk-9 and 5-12. Ms. Doherty is a graduate of Westfield State College with a BA in Special Education and Liberal Studies. She holds a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology from Union Institute and University-Vermont College and a Post-Master's Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis in Autism from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.

Christine Galeucia teaches second grade. Ms. Galeucia earned a BS in Elementary Education and a Clinical Masters in Education from Westfield State College. She has been on the staff of Undermountain since 2004. Ms. Galeucia holds MA certification as an Elementary Teacher, Grades 1-6.

JoAnn Gavrity is Title I Teacher and Title I Coordinator. She is MA certified as a Teacher of Children with Special Needs, PK-9 and 5-12, and in Reading, All Levels. Ms. Gavrity received a BA in Economics and an M.Ed. in Rehabilitation Counseling from Hunter College. She also holds an M.Ed. in the area of Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities from the MA College of Liberal Arts. Ms. Gavrity joined the District staff in 2002.

Jodi Hutchinson teaches Grade 5. She received her BA in Language Arts/English from the State University of New York, New Paltz. Ms. Hutchinson is MA certified as an Elementary Teacher, Grades K-6. She has been a member of the Undermountain staff since 2004.

Sofia Hughes teaches Kindergarten. Ms. Hughes received a BS in Home Economics/Early Childhood Education from Keene State College, NH, and an M.Ed. from Lesley University. A member of the Undermountain staff since 1996, she is MA certified as an Early Childhood, K-3, Teacher.

Katinka Jaszai is a Title I Teacher. Ms. Jaszai holds a BA in Conservation from C.W. Post College, Long Island University, and an M.Ed. from the MA College of Liberal Arts. She holds MA certification as Teacher of Students with Moderate Special Needs, K-8. Ms. Jaszai joined the elementary staff in 2001.

Kathleen Keeler is the Elementary Librarian for both Undermountain Elementary and New Marlborough Central Schools. She has a BA in English Literature from St. Lawrence University and a Master’s Degree in Library Science from SUNY Albany. Prior to coming to SBRSD, she was a Young Adult Librarian for the Beverly Public Library in Beverly MA and an Elementary School Librarian for the Hudson City School District in Hudson NY.

Christina Kreis teaches 4th Grade. She is a graduate of Westfield State College, where she earned a BA in Education. She also has her M.Ed. from Cambridge College with a concentration in mathematics. Ms. Kreis is certified through the MA DESE as an Elementary Teacher, Grades 1-6. She joined the District's staff in 2005.

Dan Lanoue teaches physical education in grades K-6. He is a 1991 graduate of Mt. Everett. In addition to his teaching duties, he also coaches wrestling and baseball.

2008. Mrs. Lotz is MA certified as an Elementary Teacher, Grades 1-6. She is also a graduate of Mt. Everett. |
Kelly MacDonald teaches Kindergarten. Kelly is a graduate of Hampshire College where she received her BA in Early Childhood Education and American history. She is certified by the MA DESE in Early Childhood, PreK-2. She completed her student teaching in Pelham, MA. Prior to coming to Undermountain in 2012, Kelly worked as an America Reads tutor for three years at Hadley
Elementary School. |
Elissa Ciaburri is a Speech Therapist Assistant, serving children in Grades 5-12. Elissa is a graduate of the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY, and holds a BS in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Prior to coming to Southern Berkshire in 2009, she served as a Speech Therapy Assistant for the CHP First Steps Program, and also worked as a French tutor at the College of St. Rose and as a direct care worker at Berkshire County Arc.

Susana Mapstone teaches elementary Spanish. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts from UMASS Lowell and is currently working towards obtaining a masters in Applied Linguistics from UMASS Boston. She holds MA certification as a Teacher of Spanish PK-6 and 5-12.

Claudine Mallory teaches Grade 5. Ms. Mallory is a graduate of UMASS Amherst and earned her MA in Teaching from Trinity College in Washington, D.C. Her experience includes 2 years as a 3rd grade teacher in the Washington, D. C. area, and 4 years as a 5th grade teacher in Fairfax County, VA, Public Schools. Ms. Mallory holds MA certification in Elementary, Grades 1-6.

Christine Martin is a FLES (Foreign Language in the Elementary Schools) Teacher. Ms. Martin is a graduate of the University of Vermont, where she received a BA In Spanish and a BA in Latin American Studies. She received an MA in Teaching English as a Second Language and in Spanish at the School for International Training. She has been a member of the SBRSD staff since 1997.

Mary J. (Amy) Murray teaches 4th Grade. Ms. Murray graduated from Fitchburg State College with a BS in Education and from Smith College with an M.Ed. in Deaf Education. She also received a math certificate from Cambridge College. Ms. Murray joined the staff at Southern Berkshire in 1998, and she holds MA certification as an Elementary Teacher, Grades 1-6, and as a teacher of Children with Special Needs, All Levels.

Elizabeth Petty teaches music in the elementary schools. Ms. Petty is a graduate of DePauw University, with a Bachelor of Music degree. She also holds a M.Ed. in moderate and special needs from Lesley College. A veteran teacher, Ms. Petty previously taught elementary music at Pittsfield Public Schools and most recently at Farmington River Elementary School in Otis.

Jane Schur is teaching third grade this year at Undermountain Elementary. Prior to taking this position she was teaching first grade for three years at Glenwood Elementary in Short Hills, New Jersey. The first twelve years of her career were spent in South Hadley, MA at Mosier Elementary where she taught second and third grade. In 2004, she obtained her Masters in Education from the University of Massachusetts. She has a B.S. in Elementary Education and Sociology from the University of Massachusetts as well. She holds a Professional teaching license for grades 1-6 for the state of Massachusetts.

Brenda Vandebogart teaches Pre-K at Undermountain. She lived the past 22 years in Naples, Fl. This is her 23rd year teaching. She has taught both Kindergarten and Pre-K Special Needs. She has a BS degree in both Primary Education (K-3) and Special Education (3-7 yrs old) from Wheelock College in Boston, MA. She also has a MS degree in Special Education from CCSU.
