Thank you for sharing your concerns. Currently, the Elementary Schools have an Assistant Principal position, but the Secondary Schools do not have anyone filling that role. Mr. Devoti is the Secondary Principal, and there are two positions called Secondary Level Student Support Assistants one full-time and one .75 supporting the Prinicpal. In light of the increased reporting requirements, the reality for the need for a succession plan, and the desire to build leadership capacity within our own staff, the District posted a .4 Assistant to the Principal position for this school year. This position still allows the person to be in a teaching role for a part of the day, and offers the opportunity to enhance their skills through student discipline, MCAS administration, scheduling, 504 management, and observations. This role can not evaluate or supervise teachers, and requires appropriate certification as an administrator. Hiring and supervision of all District personnel is a responsibility of the Superintendent. I am not aware of any employee with a $600 fuel expense. The Superintendent's contract includes a clause for reimbursement for travel expenses incurred for attending conferences and trainings as part of the job requirements. This is a common practice in contracts across the Commonwealth for Superintendents and Adminstrators.
