All of our elementary ESL students recently received a book tote to bring home books in their language to read with their parents. Students choose Spanish language books each week for their parents to read with them. Through teacher collections and our elementary Spanish program, we can keep students reading in two languages!
This is the Model UN conducting it's fall conference. The conference was structured as a "Crisis Committee" dealing with multiple theoretical acts of terrorism on a massive scale. Students had to act in the roles of key players on the world stage and try to stop the terrorism and keep the peace. It was a thrilling session. Nolan Dupont, Jake Martin and Marya Makuc won prizes for their excellent research, creativity and performance. Model UN Co-Chairs Michaela Loring and Jacob Makuc organized and ran the crisis committee with distinction.
The entire ninth grade took a field trip to the Mount (the estate of Edith Wharton) in Lenox. They toured the Sculpture Now! exhibit with artist/curator Ann Jon and exhibiting artist Matt Crane.
The French class had the pleasure to spend an evening together at Chez Nous Bistro in Lee. During dinner, the students and Monsieur Léger had the opportunity to speak French among themselves and with the owner. They experimented traditional dishes such as Cassoulet, Gratin dauphinois, Pâtés with cornichons, and of course French cheeses such as Fourme d’Ambert, Chèvre and Brie. The highlight of the evening may have been the Gâteau au chocolat!
