The Global Arts Class is exhibiting their first project at Mount Everett, outside of the administration office.
Art is a common thread throughout the world and can be used as a vehicle to increase awareness and appreciation of other cultures. Cultural bias and ignorance need to be addressed as our global community becomes more and more accessible. In the process of creating and looking at art, students gain a deeper understanding of others—as well as a creative outlet in which they can express ideas or communicate opinions. Global Art is an elective created to do just that. Students will begin the course by completing a number of explorations in map arts and cartography. Mapmaking, imaginative maps, and geographical studies will organize stories about different places and about themselves in their relation to the world. Each piece of artwork in this exhibit is unique and represents a concept which may be particularly personal to the artist. Students had the freedom to choose the medium and format which would best communicate their message. Comments are closed.
